Biography

Maxine started performing at a very young age, at junior school in St. Helens she’d put vocal groups together who’d do little shows at break and dinner times, so the headmaster asked her to perform at the school disco “Yay, my 1st gig!”

Over the years she did talent shows and amateur productions “I played Grandma Zeital in ‘Fiddler on the roof’ at 16 – I looked gorgeous!” She then decided to take up singing as a full time profession. She appeared on ‘New Faces’ as lead vocalist in the band ‘Strange Rooms’ then performed in touring productions as female lead singer/dancer before meeting husband Buzz and settling in The Midlands to work as a solo performer.

She was part of the open-air production show at Alton Towers and then later she played ‘Lazy Lill’ in the ‘Lazy Lill Saloon Bar’ at The American Adventure.
“Although both seasons were fantastic fun in the busy summer period, towards the end of the season we’d play the ‘Guess how many people will be sat in the cold watching us today’ game”.

In 1997 she won through to the Live Grand Final of ITVs ‘Stars in their Eyes’ as Lulu.

During her career she has travelled extensively, “I’ve sung on cruises to the Med, the Caribbean, I performed on a Swedish ship for 6 weeks and have done shows in Cyprus, Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Italy, France and Switzerland...it’s a hard life”

Spotted in a London venue by casting agent Sandie Singer who suggested she get some acting lessons, Maxine was cast in the Bill Kenwright production of ‘The Roy Orbison Story’ taking on the roles of ‘Patsy Cline, KD Lang and Dusty Springfield.

She got involved in writing television theme tunes with husband Buzz, one of their successes being ‘The Basil Brush Show for the BBC. “Its cool hearing your voice on a kids TV show each week and I’m so chuffed when I see my name on the closing credits”
